Volkswagen has introduced the Highline specification for all the estate and sedan models. However nothing has changed much in terms of designing. However, Volkswagen thinks that the vehicles have been improved considerably after the introduction of the Highline specification and the new platform is better than that of the SE in all angles. The Blue Motion technology further makes the Passat a great choice over the other vehicles in its segment, even the latest Mazda6.
The Japanese vehicle is expected to be vastly different from the Passat, however they fall in the same price bracket and as a result comparison will surely arise. Volkswagen has also included Sky Active technology in the vehicles and the vehicle was tested at a London test track recently. The results obtained were more than satisfactory and Volkswagen is finally happy with their vehicle.
Volkswagen knows how to design sports vehicles and the Passat estate is the best example of the right balance between performance, luxury and space. The vehicle also packs in a list of technologically advanced instruments and the software system inside the vehicle is also up to date. Priced at £26,045 in the United Kingdom, the Volkswagen Passat Highline 2.0 TDI 140 DSG estate is expected to feature a 1998 cc displacing, four cylinder turbo charged diesel engine.
The vehicle is expected to displace 138 BHP @ 4200 RPM and 236 ft lb of torque @ 1750 RPM. The engine is mated to a dual clutch six speed transmission system and the vehicle weighs a little over 1601 kg. Sporting a top speed of 131 MPH, the vehicle reaches 60 MPH from a standstill within 9.8 seconds and sports a fuel efficiency of 54.3 MPG on a combined scale.
With the launch of the Passat Highline 2.0 TDI 140 DSG estate, Volkswagen has taken estates to an all new level. Driving an estate is no longer the thing of the oldies and these vehicles are finally catching up to the time. This cocoon does not resemble a cocoon anymore and is a sophisticated device on wheels.
Volkswagen has not confirmed a date for launch and it is expected to be out on the streets by mid 2013. The details of the specifications have not been announced as of yet and it is confirmed that the vehicle is ready for production. Road tests are yet to be conducted. However the Passat Highline 2.0 TDI 140 DSG estate is expected to features additional features which Volkswagen could announce by the end of the month. Overall this estate is one mean ride.
