Scion Remodels the FR S While Increasing the Base Price for 2014

Scion has introduced the FR S in the market for the second time in as many years and the vehicle features some minor modifications to the exterior along with a minor price increase. However, performance upgrades have not been made and hence there is not much to talk about the specifications of this car. The biggest modification made on the FR S is the new 6.1 inch touch screen added to the central console of the dashboard.

This new touch screen has recently been added to all of Scion’s production vehicles while connectivity options include USB and Bluetooth connectivity across the range. New iPod and Audio Auxiliary ports have been added to give the car enhanced connectivity and to make life easier for the occupants. The 2014 FR S also features new knee cushions located at the side of the center console and the door panels while an all new satellite navigation system has been added to the car as well.

A huge list of application options on the car includes TripAdvisor, Yelp and Aha, while the sound system has been upgraded in general. The FR S is still powered by the flat four cylindered 2.0 liter 200 BHP and 151 ft lb of torque displacing engine. The car packs in sufficient power although a bit more would not hurt.
Decent performance includes standard acceleration and top speed while handling plays a major role in stabilizing the vehicle. The damper and suspension settings also play perfectly with the minimized body roll of the car. Further enhancements and performance aspects are being considered on the vehicle, although they are still some time off from an official announcement.

The Scion FR S starts from a base price of $25,455 for the six speed manual transmission version of the car. The six speed automatic transmission will set you back by about $525 to $26,555. Scion is working its way up the ladder into the hearts of the younger driver and their products are slowly turning heads around the globe. Scion is set to manufacture world class cars and the FR S showcases the brand’s capabilities.

Scion is working on a deluxe system which will differentiate their cars from the competitors in the market. Although it is difficult to comment on this at the moment, Scion is quite hopeful of its new technologies being successful in the market. The infotainment measures installed in this car by Scion are top notch and the company has installed close to 30,000 free audio stations in it.

Scion is also offering a two tone paint scheme on the car and this should differentiate its current generation vehicle from its predecessor. Base price of the manual starts at $15,920 while the automatic range starts from $16,720, Scion has confirmed that the first look of the production version of the car will be available fall September. The car could be showcased publicly at the Frankfurt Motor Show although it has not been confirmed yet. Scion is likely to post updates within the next few days.
