The production team applauded the new car – a Blue Race color Fabia – while it was going through the final inspection stage. Skoda Fabia, which has a completely new design, conquers through a design language full of emotion, innovative safety, comfort and infotainment systems in the upper classes of cars, as well as low fuel consumption values. The market launch will take place in November.
Before the start of production of the Skoda Fabia model there have been extensive work adjustments and renovation at the factory in Mlada Boleslav; all performed during factory holidays, which ended in mid-August. 40 companies specializing in production technology, along with hundreds of experts were involved in the process.
The new Skoda Fabia is exciting in all respects. The third generation Fabia shows, just like the first car produced, that Skoda design has developed into a more expressive design language and emotionally rich. The homogeneous proportions, crystalline forms, and clean lines highlight the new generation. In addition, the new Skoda Fabia offers more possibilities for customization than before, both inside and outside.
This is a small car but with big technologies. The new Skoda Fabia benefits from innovative safety systems, as well as comfort and infotainment ones coming to cars in higher segments. For the first time, a Skoda car can be easily connected to a smartphone via MirrorLink technology. A completely new engine range also requires new standards, making the third generation the most ecological and economic Skoda Fabia ever. Compared to the previous model the new Fabia uses up to 17 percent less fuel.
In the typical Skoda style, the new Fabia is impressive by the relatively generous space and many “Simply Clever” facilities, of which up to 9 features are new.
More mature, the Fabia 3 receives lines that can also be found on its sibling, VW Polo, with which the new Fabia shares the production platform. The Czech model doesn’t get the MQB platform, already found in the Octavia.
8 mm shorter than the older generation, the new Fabia has a somewhat spacious interior. At shoulder level, space increased by 21 mm for the front passengers and 2 mm for those behind. The trunk also increased by 15 liters, reaching a total of 330 liters. It is the largest capacity in the segment, according to the release of those by Skoda, and is 10 liters larger than that offered by the Dacia Sandero. When folded, the back seats increase the trunk space offered by the new Fabia to 1,150 liters.
With the completely new third generation the manufacturer wants to continue the impressive success story of the Skoda Fabia. Having sold about 3.4 million cars to date, Skoda Fabia is the most sold car of the Czech Republic brand after the Skoda Octavia. Between 1999 and 2006 1.8 million copies have been sold in total, just in the first generation Fabia alone. From 2006 until now, Skoda has delivered to its customers about 1.7 million copies of the second generation Fabia.
