New Generation Hyundai i30 Wagon Revealed at Geneva

The new i30 family member is distinguished by a timeless design, like the five-door model, complemented by the elegance and versatility offered by the wagon bodywork. The wagon version will be released in Europe in the second half of the year.

Besides the stylish design, the Hyundai i30 Wagon has a storage capacity of 602 liters, which can reach up to 1,650 liters by folding the rear seat. Moreover, the second i30 family member provides additional storage under the boot floor. The total length of the car is 4,585 mm, 245 mm longer than the five-door version.

Hyundai provides customers the newest active safety systems. These include autonomous braking system (AEB) system to monitor driver attention (DAA), high beam assist (HBA) and lane keeping Assist System (LKAS).

With the front camera, the AEB operates in three stages. Initially, the system warns the driver visually and acoustically by automatically applying brake force whose intensity increases gradually to avoid the risk of an accident or reduce damage when a collision is unavoidable. AEB can optionally be equipped with Pedestrian Detection, which uses radar sensors in the front.

The DAA system allows constant monitoring of the driving style in order to detect any undesirable direction deviation, showing signs of fatigue, warning the driver via an audible and visual message displayed on the board.
Intelligent cruise control function (ASCC) maintains constant speed and distance to the vehicle ahead, automatically acting the accelerator or brake pedal at speeds up to 180 km / h. If traffic is blocked, the system applies a braking force to vehicle deceleration, accelerating when room is made.

Blind spot monitoring System (BSD), with lanes changing assistance system (LDWS), monitors the sides and rear of the car and, if detecting another vehicle, a light alert appears in the outside mirrors.

The warning system when reversing (RCTA) detects vehicles to the rear when the vehicle is moving to exit parking spaces with poor visibility, alerting the driver via audible and visual signals.

To this we add the LKAS function, which alerts the driver when changing lanes without a turn signal at operations over 60 km / h. The visual and audible alerts proactively correct the position of the steering wheel to keep the car in the middle of the lane.
Information on the speed limit function (SLIF), identifies traffic signs for the maximum speed permitted by displaying details both on the navigation system screen and on-board instrumentation.

HBA allows disabling the high beam automatically when a vehicle is detected oncoming at nighttime.
The i30 has a wide range of motorization. The vehicle has three gasoline engines and one diesel engine with a displacement of 1.6 liters with two power levels (110 or 136 hp). The new four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.4 liters develops 140 hp, while the 1.0-liter T-GDI provides 120 hp (preliminary consumption fuel for the Hyundai i30 Wagon, NEDC combined is 5.8 – 3.6 l / 100 km, with CO2 emissions of 95 – 135 g / km).

Designed by the Technical Center Hyundai Motor Europe, in Rüsselsheim, tested at the Nürburgring and produced at the plant Nošovice, Czech Republic, the third generation i30 is built around Hyundai’s infrastructure in Europe, with an experience of over 25 years.
