The premiere of the new Silverado takes place on the occasion of the 100th anniversary since the first Chevrolet pick-ups hit in the market in January 1918.
The new generation Chevrolet Silverado is 41 mm longer than the previous model. In this context, the wheelbase increased by 100 mm.
Chevrolet, observes that cargo space, regardless of length, is still the most spacious in the segment. In the shortest version of the car it measures 1,784 liters, 20 percent more than competitors.
The range of engines for the new Chevrolet Silverado will be composed of six combinations of engines and gearboxes. The gasoline engines will be two 5.3 and 6.2 liters V8, and a single Duramax turbo diesel which displaces 3.0 liters.
The new Silverado will be available in eight different versions. Among the new ones are Custom Trailboss, one RST, adapted for asphalt, and Silverado LT Trailboss, an off-road version. The latter has a revised suspension that has increased the ground guard by 50 mm, features Rancho shock absorbers, a rear lockable differential, 18-inch wheels and Goodyear Duratrac off-road tires.
Chevrolet mentions that more passenger space is available on the inside.
Also, the quality of the materials has been improved, and the driver will have access to 4G LTE Wi-Fi, Apple Car Play, Android Auto, electromagnetic induction mobile phone recharging and various safety and traffic assistance features.
Production of the new Silverado will take place at the Fort Wayne plant, Indiana, USA. The first cars will reach customers this fall.
