Well, David Brown Automotive is back on the market and not with empty hands. The British’s new creation is a quite more modern version of the classic Mini. This is how the new Mini Remastered was created- a kind of 911 Reimagined by Singer. Even the word Remastered is associated with Reimagined!
Mini Remastered retains some of the original style of the first Issigonis but with the disappearance of welds on the body, with the emerging new grille made of aluminum, the aerodynamic side mirrors, new headlights or LED taillights (which look like gems), we can say without a doubt that it is inspired from many points of view by the Speedback GT version.
Under the hood we meet with the same Mini engine with a displacement of 1.2 liters, this time a little tuned, which provides 50 percent more power. The brakes and suspension were changed and the four-speed manual gearbox has gone through an extensive modernization process. Moreover, David Brown Automotive engineers have added support beams and columns for a stiffer body and better maneuverability.
The 4-cylinder engine that develops 79 horsepower at 5,700 rpm and 123 Nm torque at 3900 rpm is coupled to a 4-speed manual transmission. With a weight of 740 kg, the new-old Mini Remastered accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 11.7 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 145 km / h, and indicates the combined fuel consumption of 6.6 l / 100 km. Optionally, an engine with a displacement of 1.3 liters and 100 hp is offered .
The soundproofing is improved compared with the original Mini from the 60s, and the suspension was reinforced for added convenience.
The interior of the Mini combines exciting elements of the past with the latest technology. In the first category we have leather seats, custom made black and white gauges, and also steering wheel with wood frame Moto-Lita. In the second category, the car boasts of keyless start, USB port, a media system, Apple Carplay touch screen and also connectivity with Android Auto, ventilation system intakes taken from the Mercedes-Benz, and engine start button taken from Jaguar Land Rover.
On the new Mini we can even find the most important accessory of the 21st century: a cup holder.
Mini Remastered will be built by hand in the new David Brown Automotive workshops near Silverstone, which will have as soon as possible a showroom. The creator prepares two new limited car editions, one inspired by “Cafe Racers”, another for “Monte Carlo”. Perhaps because of this, the public official launch took place on April 20 at the Top Marques in Monaco.
Prices start at about 58,000 euros and reach over 80,000 euros for models equipped with all the options. Many say that these price make the Mini version, rebuilt by BMW, an actually cheap version.
