MINI At The Los Angeles Auto Show

MINI prepared a double US premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show (November 20 to 29) – the MINI Convertible and MINI Clubman.
The new models offer to a new category of customers the opportunity to discover MINI’s special experience, a unique combination of design, built on a powerful tradition, a premium character, unlimited customization and typical go-kart dynamics. Meanwhile, at Los Angeles they will be celebrating the most successful model of the brand: the MINI Countryman number 500,000 will be presented in the show.

MINI Countryman was started in 2010 and opened the brand to new territory. It was the first MINI with a four-wheel drive, four doors and an overall length exceeding four meters, and was an important basis for the commercial success of the brand. The anniversary model is presented in premiere with Kite Blue metallic color which will be integrated into the brand’s offer from March next year.

The MINI Convertible is an emotional model, with a design to match, but it retains a sporty image. In the spirit of the brand it has the typical proportions of heavily sculpted surfaces and a dynamic elongated silhouette, providing an updated interpretation to the classic design elements of the brand: round headlights and taillights with chrome outlines, hexagonal radiator grille, or black pillars.

The quality textile soft top is provided with a fully automatically mechanism for opening/closing and sliding roof function. For the first time, the operation is fully electric and therefore very quiet. Another novelty is the MINI Yours soft top with woven Union Jack graphics. Opening and closing the roof and the side windows is done in 18 seconds and is possible when traveling at speeds up to 30 km / h.

The luggage compartment volume has been expanded by approximately 25 percent to 215 liters with the roof closed and 160 liters with the roof open. The standard equipment includes rear seatbacks with divided folding, extended loading facility and Easy Load function.

Market launch of the new MINI Convertible is set for next year with three engine variants (mixed average fuel consumption: 6.0 to 3.8 l / 100 km CO2 emissions: 139-100 g / km); new generation of engines with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology; three-cylinder petrol engine that develops 100 kW / 136 hp on the MINI Cooper Cabriolet, four-cylinder petrol engine that offers 141 kW / 192 hp for the MINI Cooper S Convertible, a three-cylinder diesel engine that develops 85 kW / 116 hp for the MINI Cooper D Convertible.

With four doors, iconic split rear doors, five seats and a spacious and versatile interior, the new MINI Clubman brings the classic concept of shooting brake bodywork in a modern interpretation but also in the premium compact class segment. Also, the latest model is the biggest of the new MINI generation. With the extra space, a redesigned interior, and an emphasis on quality materials and refinement, the new Clubman is positioned as the flagship of the brand.

The car is longer by 27 centimeters and 9 cm wider than the five-door MINI Hatch and the wheelbase is longer by 10 centimeters. The car boot has a volume of 360 liters and can be extended to a maximum of 1,250 liters by folding down the seat backrest in 40:20:40 ratio. So, the new MINI Clubman offers the highest practical level MINI ever met.

The new MINI Clubman starts with three different power plants using the latest generation of engines featuring MINI TwinPower Turbo technology for sporty temperament and remarkable efficiency.
