It has a 6.2-liter V-8 engine and carries a suspension that is prepared for the race track. The fenders are extra wide and weigh less. The fuel economy is rated at 13 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. It has large wheels and an aggressive looking body frame. The powertrain is good for 443 pound-feet of torque. The surge from 0-100 kmph is in 4.5 seconds. The top speed is 155 mph.
The C63 AMG Black Series Coupe has made its world premiere run at the F1 Nurburgring Grand Prix. The suspension is AMG’s coil-cover model for sports type. The braking system is a compound one. An exclusive AMG Track Package has added sports tires. There is a cooling system for the rear axle transmission. The rear aerofoil has an adjustable carbon fiber.
The Speedshift MCT (Multi Clutch Technology) of AMG uses a wet clutch assembly instead of a conventional torque converter in a seven-speed automatic transmission. This will provide for gear shifts that may happen in simply a tenth of a second in the sports shift mode. The rev matching is smooth during the down shift. It also has a launch mode for racing in stop light. The paddle shifters, made of aluminium, will allow the drivers to take charge and these shifters are placed behind the wheels.
The handling of dynamics has become easy because of the suspension that adapts to sports mode and the triple linked design of the front axle. The gas pressured shock absorbers and the springs configuration allow optimum road grip with easy movements of the body while taking sharp turns at high speed. The front axle has a fourteen-inch wider track than most of the C Class models. This is also noticeable by means of the wide arches of the wheels. This enables low wheel dynamic load when turning at corners.
The front brakes have 360 mm x 36 mm discs and six-piston callipers. The rear braking is managed by 330 mm x 26 mm discs and four-piston callipers. The Electronic Stability Program gives a whole range of settings. Instability can be handled by braking intervention at the wheels with the `ESP ON’ mode. The ‘ESP Sport’ mode can be activated by pressing the key marked, `ESP’. An extended pressure on the key deactivates the mode.
The interior features a sunroof and power seats that can be adjusted in eight separate ways. The seats also have heating option. Bluetooth audio interface streaming and a dual zone weather control app are also added in the features.
The C63 AMG Black Series Coupe is also being launched as the newest safety car for DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisters). Mercedes Benz probably knows what it is up to since it has built up a reputation of providing safety cars for the German Touring Car Series for the past twelve years.
