Mercedes-Benz Unveils New “Mobile Homes”

At the Van Salon in Dusseldorf, which took place from August 27 to September 4, Mercedes-Benz brought more vans converted into “mobile homes”. Among them are the Marco Polo and Marco Polo ACTIVITY models, based on the V-Class, respectively Vito, disclosed exactly one year ago. Now, on this occasion these models get “EDITION” versions with extra equipment.

The Mercedes-Benz Marco Polo EDITION model is distinguished by the sports package “Exterior Sports Package”, 17-inch wheels, lights equipped with Intelligent Light System technology, the Garmin MAP PILOT navigation system which will display real-time traffic, the Parking Package system for easy parking in tight spots, and pre-programed auxiliary heater. Inside, we find a small kitchen with refrigerator, sink, stove and table for four. This version is available with three diesel engines of 136, 163 and 190 HP, combined with the 4MATIC drive system. The price of this model is 59,500 euros.

In turn, the Marco Polo ACTIVITY EDITION model comes with bumpers painted in the bodywork’s color, 17-inch rims, tinted windows, advanced multimedia system and preprogrammed auxiliary heater. The version based on Vito is a bit less expensive – 44,625 euros.

The Marco Polo models receive the Mercedes Me Contact services too, which can be activated remotely via phone, tablet or computer. These services include locking / unlocking doors, activating additional heating system, vehicle diagnostics, fuel level indicator and range, traffic information in real time, and even emergency call system in case of accident.

The Germans introduced the new Marco Polo AMG Line, which emphasizes the sporty character due to its aerodynamic kit with sport bumpers, 19-inch rims, sport suspension that lowers ground clearance by 15 mm, imitation of carbon fiber for the interior and aluminum pedals.
Optionally, the adaptive suspension, AGILITY CONTROL is offered.

For the first time the Mercedes-Benz Citan model is transformed into a “house on wheels”. It features a convertible tent, Topdog, from specialist 3DOG located on the roof, which soon turns van into a “car tent.” When folded this tent occupies only up to 30 cm in height. The tent can hold two people, and has the advantage of being set up in a few minutes after stopping by a campsite. It rests on the vehicle’s roof when packed, and thus provides buyers with the ability to stay away from civilization overnight whenever adventure is what they crave.
Mercedes-Benz also unveils the new HYMERCAR Grand Canyon S, based on the Sprinter, which is equipped with a bed, set on wide surface 195 x 140 centimeters, a small kitchen and a bathroom.

In addition to models offered directly from the Mercedes-Benz factory, the Vansportscamper will be revealed and created based on the Vito Tourer by specialists in the field of “camper vans” Terracamper, in partnership with Hartmann Tuning.

It is distinguished by an aerodynamic kit the suspension which lowers the ride, chromed tailpipes of the sports exhaust system and contrasting matt black elements, including the rims, rear view mirrors, and the tent roof cover. The interior is lined with leather and equipped with a huge fridge.
