After the launch of the new Mercedes-Benz Tourismo RHD in June this year, Daimler Buses launched the new Setra 531 DT, the TopClass 500 series, characterized by increased efficiency, comfort and not least a high level of safety , setting new standards in the segment.
Thanks to its versatility, the new Setra S 531 DT seems to be perfect for multiple tasks, from urban or international routes, to occasional trips and tourism.
With improved aerodynamics, compared to the Setra 431 DT model which it replaces, the new model of the most prestigious coach manufacturer is ready to set new standards for fuel efficiency in its segment.
Likewise, the interior of the new Setra S 531 DT meets the standards with which the Ulm manufacturer has accustomed its customers all these years.
Finally, the new Setra coach car incorporates Active Brake Assist 4 and Sideguard Assist. This is the first model in the market that incorporates such systems.
In addition to the new safety features inherited from previous models, the new Setra S 531 DT also incorporates the pedestrian automatic braking system, available from the beginning of this year on the Actros version too.
As for the Sideguard Assist system, it uses radar sensors to monitor the right lane over its entire length.
When it stops and turns, the vehicle warns the driver if there are pedestrians, cyclists and other stationary obstacles in its path. Apart from the functions for which it was developed, the system assists the driver in changing lanes.
The design choice results a drag coefficient of 0.35, which represents a new reference point in the segment of buses. Aerodynamics reduce the fuel consumption of the new Setra S 531 DT by approximately 7-10 percent, depending on the type of use.
The interior is bright and the design gives the impression of a very large bus. The stairs, which bind the two decks of the bus, represent a point of attraction. With a glossy finish, they are provided with panels made of semi-transparent acrylic plastic.
The bicolor stair step, with individual illumination and balustrades arranged the entire length of the stairs, give passengers a sense of safety when walking through the stairs.
There is also an optional system for dispersing the odorant inside.
When the ignition is on and one of the doors is opened, the system automatically releases the perfume odor unobtrusive and very pleasantly to welcome the guests on board. The main components of the odor system were taken from the Mercedes-Benz S Class.
There are six flavor variants available, from fresh, sporty flavors to a more powerful fragrance, reminiscent of natural leather.
A new feature is the elegant blending of the windshields, separated by an aluminum bar. On the side walls, the designers have adapted the distinctive mark of the brand – the “La Linea” aluminum strip – which now extends across the edge of the roof. The contour of the wide windows is highlighted by the aluminum decoration at the rear steps level. The chromate logo with branded marks from TopClass 500 is present in the rear window of the bus – a perfect finish for a spectacular coach.
