In addition to being able to have exceptional dynamic performance on the road, the GLE Coupe looks impressive too. Due to the lateral lines that seem to float toward the back, the down and elongated cabin, the radiator grille with the Mercedes-Benz emblem centrally located the GLE Coupe displays traits worthy of a genuine Mercedes-Benz coupe. At the time of market launch, the GLE Coupe will be available with petrol and diesel engines with power ranging from 190 kW (258 hp) to 430 kW (585 hp).
A novelty in the range is the GLE 450 AMG, the first representative of a new line of sporty Mercedes-AMG, a very attractive option because it offers a wide range of standard equipment. In addition, it is equipped with a dynamic control system of the car, DYNAMIC SELECT, the steering system, Sports Direct-Steer, and driver assistance systems specific to Mercedes-Benz. The GLE Coupe is fitted as standard with a 9G-TRONIC gearbox and 4MATIC permanent four-wheel drive system.
The GLE Coupe is the last one arriving to the Mercedes-Benz successful coupe portfolio. Besides the classic two-door models C, E, S, and the four-door CLS and CLA, the new coupe is a special individual interpretation of the segment physiognomy to which it belongs.
The GLE Coupe will be felt by the driver as a true sports coupe since the first moments spent behind the wheel. Despite a higher driving position, worthy of an SUV and an all-round visibility that cannot be matched by a classic coupe, the passengers will soon feel that it is a sports car. The GLE Coupe’s sound reminds us of powerful sports cars, and with a very direct and spontaneous response from the car at any moment the new model promises to raise the driver’s pulse.
In addition to the permanent all-wheel drive system coupled to an automatic transmission with nine reports, the new air suspension system AIRMATIC – available for the first time with electronically controlled dampers system, ADS Plus, guarantees a very stable running, regardless of the situation. The suspension system changes the damping configuration depending on the program selected via SELECT DYNAMIC.
In the SPORT + mode, the car becomes extremely maneuverable and capable of exemplary dynamics, while also provides the best possible comfort. Diametrically opposed, the COMFORT mode offers the greatest comfort available to run and the best possible dynamics of the situation.
The suspension control unit benefits from the services of numerous sensors to continuously adjust the damping characteristics of each wheel separately: a sensor is located on the steering column, four sensors analyze the steering angle and the travel speed through ESP system and of the sensor that detects the brake pedal position.
The GLE 350d 4MATIC and GLE 400 4MATIC models are offered as standard with a steel suspension plus the AGILITY CONTROL program to set dampers and AIRMATIC air suspension is available with optional ADS Plus system.
