Jaguar Kicked Off Production Of The BMW 3 Series Rival, The Jaguar XE

Named by officials the “most important model of Jaguar’s recent history,” the XE model was launched at the Solihull manufacturing plant in the United Kingdom.
The new XE is the first model of Jaguar which will be produced at the Land Rover factory, the next on the list is expected to be the F-Pace model, which has sporty ambitions for an all-terrain model.

Jaguar XE, the new D segment model of the British brand, went into production at its plant in Solihull. The factory was modernized recently, following an investment of over two billion pounds, of which about 500 million were necessary elements for the manufacture of this model. XE is a completely new model for the British manufacturer, designed from scratch.

The new mid-range model from the Jaguar is the first one to be built on the new modular architecture of the company. The new platform uses aluminum for 75 percent of the construction, and boasts with the title of the lightest, stiffest and most aerodynamic Jaguar model with sedan bodywork ever released. The XE is the new entry-level unit in the Jaguar range and will be offered with engines that go from the 2.0 liters up to a 3.0 liter supercharged V6.

The new Jaguar XF maintains the basic attributes of its predecessor and it brings them to a completely new level thanks to the new architecture made of aluminum. Its new bodywork has a reduced weight by 190 kg compared to the current model, and increased torsional stiffness by up to 28 percent. Although it is 7mm shorter and 3 mm lower compared to the current generation, the new Jaguar XF has a 51mm longer wheelbase. Because of this it provides more space for the rear passengers.

The Ingenium 2.0 liter diesel engines are available in 163 H/380 Nm, and 180 HP/430 Nm versions, and are offered with a manual transmission with six reports, specially optimized, and automatic transmission with 8 reports. With the 163 HP version with manual transmission, the new Jaguar XF has CO2 emissions of 104 g/km and is the lightest and most fuel efficient non-hybrid diesel model in its segment – and it’s 80 kg lighter than its nearest competitor.

All other engines are equipped exclusively with the eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0 liter gasoline turbocharged engine with direct injection develops 240 HP/340 Nm, while the famous V6 supercharged petrol engine displacing 3.0 liters will be available in two power versions: 340 HP / 450 Nm, and 380 HP / 450 Nm. The 3.0 liter V6 twin-turbo diesel has a number of advanced technologies which amplify performance and refinement generating 300 HP and outstanding torque of 700 Nm.

Using the experience of the F-TYPE and XE models, the electric power steering assistance system (EPAS) maintains maneuverability and direction, emblematic for the XF, while also contributing to fuel economy. For all-wheel drive versions, Jaguar has developed a new system that delivers additional torque when needed.

The Infotainment and Connectivity System is the most advanced ever offered by Jaguar. The new InControl Touch Pro is equipped with a 10.2-inch touch screen and Dual View technology, which allows the driver to see information such as navigation information, while the front passenger watches TV or a DVD at the same time.
