Shortly before the world premiere of Skoda Kodiaq, the Czech automobile manufacturer disclosed details of its new large SUV. These images provide a first impression of how Skoda will transfer the expressive design language of the brand to the SUV segment. Also, the pictures with some details emphasize the high uncompromising standards that the brand applies when it comes to the manufacturing process.
As we move closer to the Motor Show in Paris, Skoda gives us more details about the new Kodiaq, the second SUV in the range, a surprise that the European public was waiting right from first learning of the concept this spring in Geneva.
The Skoda Kodiaq is impressive, especially the three-dimensional radiator grille that is wide, with its own character. In combination with the narrow headlights available for the first time with full LED technology the first large SUV of the brand is an unmistakable presence on the road. Viewed from the side and rear, the SUV impresses as well: the doors have athletic lines and the tailgate presents expressive sculptural forms. Rear lights with LED technology come as standard, C-shaped and glowing, so characteristic of the Skoda brand.
The exceptional storage space is also specific for Skoda by having a loading capacity between 720 liters and 2065 liters (with the rear seats folded), the Skoda Kodiaq five-seater offers the largest luggage compartment in its class. A first for Skoda is that the SUV can roll out of the production line as an optional 7-seater. By adjusting the position and angle of the seats, they can be adapted to suit a very wide range of requirements for the transport of people and goods. If you opt for folding the front passenger seat, the car can carry objects with a length of up to 2.90 meters.
The cutting edge support systems ensure optimized levels of safety and comfort. The Area View system plays on the screen of the car different perspectives of the area in the immediate vicinity of the car, using video cameras with wide-angle lenses integrated in the front and behind the car, but also in the side mirrors. Thus, images can be played from an aerial perspective, as well as 180 degrees panoramic images, with areas in front of and behind the vehicle. The Tow Assist system is also new in the range. When Skoda Kodiaq is towing a trailer, the system takes control of steering when driving at low speed in reverse. In addition, when going into reverse mode the new Maneuver Assist system will stop the car as soon as an obstacle is detected behind it.
The Skoda Connect mobile online service is still an innovation and is divided into two categories: the Infotainment Online services provide more information and real-time navigation and the Care Connect services allow remote access while ensuring assistance.
The core of the Care Connect services is the emergency call after an accident: if an airbag was activated, the function Emergency Call (e-Call) automatically initiates a call to an emergency call center.
