Fiat 500L Just Got a Facelift

Two years after presenting the facelift for the Fiat 500, the 500L is set to finally get an upgrade too. Even if at first glance there are not many changes, representatives of the Italian manufacturer say the new model has about 40 percent new components.

Outside, the new Fiat 500L facelift comes with absolutely new bumpers with a revised grille that has a more pronounced “nose” shape, identical to the one on the Fiat 500 hatchback, daytime LEDs that mimic the crossed zeros in the name, the bottom door elements being also revised, as well as the rear optical blocks.

Most importantly, the new Fiat 500L facelift will be offered in three interpretations – Urban, Cross and Wagon. The Urban version is the usual one, while the 500L Cross replaces the 500L Trekking version, offering the same SUV character and an elevated ground guard (+25 mm), as well as three driving modes: Normal, Traction + and Gravity Control. The 500L Wagon is the larger wheelbase model offering 7 seats.

Clients will have at their disposal no less than 37 bodywork color combinations. Also, the FCA Group Personalization Division, Mopar, proposes another 92 different customization elements, making it unlikely that potential clients will not find something to their tastes!

Inside, the new Fiat 500L facelift comes with a revised board in the dashboard region, which is now more modern and features a 3.5-inch information display, and a fully revised central console housing the new multimedia system Uconnect HD Live with 7-inch display, offering Apple Car Play and Android Auto connectivity, Google Play and Google Maps services, Facebook or Twitter connection. At the same time, it is also possible to choose a sound system made by Beats with a power of 520 watts.

In addition to the modified central tunnel, we can also see an entirely new round steering wheel in comparison to the old wheel, which was almost square in shape. The interior can be customized almost indefinitely, offering 1,500 different combinations. Together with the exterior combination, this increases the customization specter by a lot.

Among the new safety systems we mention the Autonomous City Brake, which can operate the brake at speeds up to 30 km / h.
Those who want a gasoline engine will be able to choose between a 1.4-liter unit with 95 horsepower, or a more powerful version, with 120 hp. A Twin Turbo unit with a 0.9 liter displacement, also capable of developing 105 horsepower, can be chosen too. The latter is also available in a version that can run on CNG (compressed natural gas – methane), but in this case the engine develops 85 hp.

For those who prefer a diesel engine, Fiat has two options: a 1.3-liter Multijet engine that is capable of delivering 95 horsepower and another 1.6-liter unit which produces 120 horses.

All engines comply with the Euro 6 environmental regulations and can be coupled to 5 or 6-speed manual transmission, as well as to the Dualogic robotic transmission.
