“The first market of course is China which is our core market, and we are going to Eastern Europe as a slow start and then of course extending into European markets. The car has been developed for the Chinese market but at the same time for Europe because it is one and the same product” said Stefano Villanti, Qoros Auto executive director of sales, marketing and product strategy.
The Chinese from Qoros are the ones who have developed a car from scratch in their country and managed to get a five-star at Euro NCAP safety tests in September 2013. The new SUV of the brand is also expected to obtain the same score. Qoros became known as the first Chinese carmaker to achieve a five-star European NCAP rating for its Golf-sized Qoros 3 hatch. This was due to the engineers and design staff that is led by experienced westerners from companies like BMW and Saab.
The freshly created Chinese-Israeli Qoros was founded in 2007 and says the 3 City SUV is a rival for the likes of the VW Tiguan and upcoming Mazda CX3 and Honda HR-V- they say it is “designed for a more premium metropolitan lifestyle, perfect for urban cruising and country driving”. ”Its modern design and flexibility is exemplified by its increased ground clearance, large wheels, and a more commanding driving position. It offers generous space and more control for an exciting driving experience” said the company in a press release.
