It was a nice experience for Premium Partner Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts and viewers from all over the world to inspect this new car closely. Including the Director of BMW Motorsport Jens Marquardt all were very curios to watch the way it performs on the racetrack in Florida. He has shown a lot of confidence in it about winning races and titles.
Team Principal Bobby Rahal has also shown his excitement about entering the competitions with the BMW Z4 GTE. Though primarily it will go through a development season still he is confident of being competitive in the race of ALMS in GT category. The talented drivers that they have including two new talents Maxime Martin and John Edwards can win the race again like they did in 2009.
BMW Motorsport announced that in car number 55 it will be ALMS rookie Maxime Martin (BE) and Bill Auberlen (US) are the coming season. For all the races Dirk Müller (DE) will be in numbered 56 car. John Edwards (US) and Joey Hand (US) will alternate as a driving partner.
In this year of 2013, the BMW Z4 GTE will run in first season. From 2012 in July the BMW Motorsport engineers started to develop the GTE version of it, which would accord to the ACO regulations. As per these regulations, the electronic aids such as ABS and DSC are not permitted on a GTE car.
This car is believed to be more compact that the previous version of it that is BMW M3 GT. Its dimensions have been kept in accordance with ACO policies. It was tested first time in the mid-January in a racetrack. BMW Team RLL involved in the process of its development and engineers from USA has worked in its assembly as well.
Along with BMW Z4 GTE, BMW Team RLL is looking forward for the new season with few other things as well. BMW Motorsport has made Michelin its new Tyre Partner in the ALMS. The premium partner Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts is there forever.
Its length excluding rear wing is 4395mm, width is 2010mm. Height and weight has been set to 1205mm and 1245kg respectively. Tank capacity is 110 liters according to IMSA and has a body made of steel with welded safety cell. It has six-speed transmission, shifting paddles are mounted on steering wheel with multiple ZF clutch. Front axle is of McPherson with pushrods and wishbone. Rear axle is of longitudinal links with wishbone and adjustable shock absorbers. Brake system has hydraulic dual circuit and monobloc multi-piston light allows calipers. Seamless brake facility is given for both front and rear. Engine has with 4,400cc capacity, eight-cylinder with four valves each.
