Audi launches the 2013 R8 V10 Coupe and Spyder

Audi upgrades the R8 series with a quicker S Tronic twin clutch plates with an all new advanced V10 engine. The new technology is induced in both the Audi R8 Base and the Spyder models and this is standard for the 2013 models of the vehicle.

The Audi R8 was termed as a high performance sports car since its induction into the fleet in late 2009 and the car has undergone certain modifications and upgrades in the past. However, the 2013 model will feature upgraded electronics and engine specifications as compared to the present model.

The S Tronic twin clutch transmission present in the Audi R8, transfers the right amount of energy to the axle when needed, hence, powering the vehicle by a great margin. The new R8 also features an all new LED head lamp design and new exterior design detailing. Apart from the all the designing prospects, an all new V10 Coupe is present at the helm, powering the R8.

The present model of the R8 uses an R Tronic transmission, which is set to be replaced by the S Tronic. The clutch plates of the S Tronic transmission is less than 60 cm and is pure stainless steel.

The powerful V10 develops 530 Nm of raw power @ 6,500 RPM and 525 HP @ 8,000 RPM. The Audi R8 S Tronic accelerates from 0 – 60 mph in less than 3.6 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than the present model. The S Tronic has a recorded top speed of 195 mph.

The R8 10 Coupe is Audi’s current flagship model and the car develops 550 HP @ 6,500 RPM with maximum torque production being 540 Nm. The Coupe has an incredible acceleration which powers the vehicle from 0 – 60 mph is under 3.5 seconds.

The V10 Coupe has a top speed of 197 mph and fuel economy is recorded at 21.9 miles per gallon. The chassis of the V10 Coupe is developed, keeping in mind the formula one race cars and hence the car has technological features identical to motorsport vehicles.

The R8 V10 Coupe sports an ultra responsive power steering and a switch between normal and sports mode. While gear ratios are set for optimum mileage at the normal mode, switching to sports mode raise the ratios and the car gets an optimum power boost at every gear.

Braking commands prime importance in all sports car and the Audi R8 V10 Coupe sports ceramic petal disks for the front and rear wheels. The sports mode can be deactivated using the advanced electronic stability control of the vehicle the brake calipers offer great stopping potential at every speed.
Some external features of the R8 V10 Coupe is done up using an advanced carbon fiber polymer like the door handles, the side mirror, front diffuser and splitter. The carbon fiber ceramic brakes also do their part in reducing the weight.

19 inch wheels are also standard on all Audi R8 V10 Coupe and Spyder models starting from 2013. The car also features an advanced iPad connectivity, Bluetooth and dual tone leather seats.
