Art on wheels: Bentley Continental GT

Always a special moment, the unveiling of a new Bentley. The new Continental GT exceeds all expectations.

The new Bentley Continental GT is art on wheels. The brand has incorporated many elements of the beautiful EXP 10 concept car into the new model, the result is impressive. Never before, Bentley built such a beautiful car. Very different from the previous Continental GT as well, the proportions in the design have been changed because the front wheels are no less than 13.5 centimeters further forward.

Also the interior is beautiful. The chairs are lined with leather stitched in a double-glazed form and for the dashboard and 10 m2 wood is used for the door panels. A 12.3-inch touchscreen is hidden behind a wooden panel on the dashboard. As options, Bentley offers three bells, which can be mounted on the back of the screen. This allows you to choose between a modern (display) or a classic (bell) look.

The possibilities are endless, there are fifteen types of carpets, fifteen different finishing options for the interior and eight types of veneer for the dashboard. New is the ‘Côtes de Genève’ option, an aluminum finer with stripes, inspired by Swiss watches. Sound systems include the top brands of Naim and Bang & Olufsen.

635 hp

Underneath the ornate hood is the famous 6.0 W12 engine. This produces 635 hp power and 900 Nm torque, good for a 0-100 km / h spin in just 3.6 seconds. The top speed is 333 km / h. At low load the engine switches off six cylinders to save fuel. An eight-speed automatic transmission takes care of the switching. The Continental GT is always equipped with four-wheel drive, but the forces are driven to the rear wheels as much as possible. Air suspension and damping are driven by the new Bentley Dynamic Ride, which operates on a seperate 48 volt power circuit and can be set in different driving modes.

The new Continental GT will arrive in the Netherlands at the beginning of next year, for mentioning prices is still too early.
