The first Qashqai (2007) and second Qashqai (2014) together accounted for 3 million copies sold in Europe, worldwide the counter even stands at 5 million. Now Nissan comes with the 3rd generation to resist that success. The new Qashqai looks – except for the angular grille – relatively familiar, yet there are profound differences. Such as up to 20 ”rims!
Since the modern competitor is fond of extensive personalization, you can choose between eleven exterior colors and five duotone versions.
The new Nissan Qashqai remains almost completely faithful to the existing exterior dimensions, thanks to the new CMC-C platform the wheels can be more in the corners. As a result, the wheelbase grows and the occupants benefit from extra (leg) space! With 480 liters, the case already holds 50 milk cartons more than before.
Along with the new Qashqai, Nissan is also introducing the larger 9″ NissanConnect infotainment system with modern functionality such as wireless Apple CarPlay / Android Auto support. There is also a 12.3″ digital instrument panel, WiFi hotspot and a head-up display (10.8”) available!
Nissan supplies the new Nissan Qashqai with various powertrains, either without diesel (no longer of this time according to the Japanese) and purely electric variant. For that there is of course the Ariya, which is slightly larger / more spacious / more functional.
The 1.3-liter four-cylinder petrol engine invariably receives electric (mild hybrid) support under the ALiS ( Advanced Lithium-ion battery System ) banner. The manual transmission is 140 hp/240 Nm strong and drives the front wheels. Those who want can also get this with 158 hp/260 Nm. Those who want four-wheel drive must go to the 158 hp/270 Nm variant, optionally with Xtronic automatic transmission.
By 2022, the Qashqai will get its innovative e-POWER powertrain. In short, you can see this as an electric variant with 190 hp / 330 Nm where a 1.5-liter petrol engine functions as a generator. Here there are three specific driving modes available ( Standard, Sport and Eco , each with a stronger energy recovery mode if desired).
The new Qashqai gets the upgraded ProPILOT driver assistance system that allows semi-autonomous driving in certain conditions. What is new is that the system now also takes navigation data and environmental sensors into account.
